BOWLING & CARD PARTY

Join us for the Progressive Group’s annual bowls and card day, with lunch included.
All ages welcome – come and learn to play bowls with the best of them…..
Where: Diamond Bay Bowling Club, 709 Old South Head Road, Vaucluse
Time:  12 noon for lunch.  1:00 pm play commences
Cost:  $20 pp

A fundraising cocktail party with guest speaker Dr Gene Sherman, Director of Sherman Galleries.
Dr Sherman will give an illustrated talk about Collecting Contemporary Art and will discuss the current gallery exhibitions of Australian Fine Arts teacher Lynne Roberts Goodwin and highly acclaimed Aboriginal artist Clinton Nain.
All proceeds to go to H.I.P.P.Y.

NCJWA TRANSCULTURAL WRITING AND MEDIA

National Council of Jewish Women of Australia Limited invites you to join our series of discussions relating to books and films from various cultures.

The discussion evenings, all Tuesday nights at 7.45, will be held at Council House, 111 Queen Street Woollahra (entry Dorhauer Lane).

Women and men from all cultural backgrounds are invited to register for the series which begins on September 5 with the Muslim film Under the Skies.

The opening session is jointly hosted by National Council of Jewish Women of Australia Limited and Muslim Women’s National Network Australia Inc. NCJWA has been sponsored by Rotary Club, Bondi Junction and MWNNA is sponsored by the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs.

NCJWA will continue its series on Tuesday October 17 with a book relating to the Christian faith, Gilead by Marilynne Robinson. This won the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for fiction. To purchase this book for $21.50 through NCJWA please order by emailing ncjwnat@bigpond.net.au or phoning NCJWA on 9363 2511. Please ensure you have read the book prior to the session so that you can participate in the open discussion.

Within these sessions it is intended to study work from Chinese, Aboriginal, Baha’i and Jewish cultures. The books/ films to be studied will be notified at least one session ahead. Participants may purchase books through NCJWA’s discounted source, Lindfield Bookshop, or borrow from a library.

There is no charge for the opening session; all following sessions will be $15, pay at the door.
