National Council of Jewish Women of Australia Limited invites you to join our series of discussions relating to books and films from various cultures. The discussion evenings, all Tuesday nights at 7.45, will be held at Council House, 111 Queen Street Woollahra (entry Dorhauer Lane). Women and men from all cultural backgrounds are invited to register for the series which begins on September 5 with the Muslim film Under the Skies. The opening session is jointly hosted by National Council of Jewish Women of Australia Limited and Muslim Women’s National Network Australia Inc. NCJWA has been sponsored by Rotary Club, Bondi Junction and MWNNA is sponsored by the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs. NCJWA will continue its series on Tuesday October 17 with a book relating to the Christian faith, Gilead by Marilynne Robinson. This won the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for fiction. Please ensure you have read the book prior to the session so that you can participate in the open discussion.

2007 the series will continue on the following dates: Within these sessions it is intended to study work from Chinese, Aboriginal, Baha’i and Jewish cultures. The books/ films to be studied will be notified at least one session ahead. Participants may purchase books through NCJWA’s discounted source, Lindfield Bookshop, or borrow from a library. To register for the series or RSVP for a session please notify NCJWA on the above email or phone number. This will assist seating arrangements and supper. There is no charge for the opening session; all following sessions will be $15, pay at the door. All sessions of NCJWA Transcultural Writing and Media have been sponsored by Bondi Junction Rotary Club.
